She has been used for Ocean Research, Search & Rescue, Diving and location of ocean downed vessels and aircraft. She was designed and built for ocean research. She is an all steel vessel with shallow draft, with ice strengthened hull, a helioport, large walk in refrigerated unit, a wide variety of electrical power utilities, mechanicals able to provied submersible craft support and precision towing. She has quarters for 25 persons, an industrial kitchen, large galley, laundry facilities, office space and a large lounge. Operations were in compliance with USCG specifications.
